CPJ to Honor Egypt’s Jailed Journalists Shawkan

(Ikshef) – The Committee to Protect Journalists “CPJ” announced it will honor journalists from Egypt, India, Turkey, and El Salvador with its 2016 International Press Freedom Awards.

The first of the those journalist is Mahmoud Abou Zeid, (aka Shawkan) who is a freelance photographer that has been in prison since his August 2013 arrest while covering the dispersal of an anti-coup protest in Cairo.

The event is set to be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Waldorf-Astoria, New York City.
