(Ikshef) – Freedoms Committee in the Egyptian Journalists’ Syndicate held a press conference to tackle the hoped escalation by EJS to release jailed journalists Amr Badr and Mahmoud Al-Sakka, who are imprisoned in a publication case related to two islands which the Egyptian regime handed control over them to Saudi Arabia.

Held Tuesday at the headquarters of the syndicate, the conference also discussed how to mitigate the situation of detained journalists in prisons.

Head of Freedoms Committee, Khaled Al-Balshi, confirmed that the conditions suffered by the detained journalists are deplorable.

Aya Alaa, wife detained journalist Hassan Al-Kabbani, shed light on the miserable conditions detained journalists suffer from, and how EJS role to improve these conditions is missed.

Sister of detained journalist Mahmoud Al-Sakka confirmed that he is suffering from prevention of entry of food as well as psychological torture during visits.

The Ministry of the Interior has deployed intensive security forces since the morning to prevent the conference.
