(Ikshef) – Arab Media Freedom Monitor (Ikshef) is seriously concerned about journalists and media persons imprisoned in Borg Al-Arab prison over opinion cases.

Ikshef is greatly disturbed by what is happening against prisoners of abuses by prison guards and officers, after the killing of a criminal, and preventing relatives from visiting prisoners, beside treating them inhumanely.

Ikshef holds Egyptian authorities totally responsible for safety of journalist in Prison. Ther are over 15 journalists and reporters, some of them are serving prison sentences and others are in custody.

Ikshef calls upon all those who are concerned with human rights in general and press freedom in particular in and outside Egypt to move to stop the horrible violations in Borg Al-Arab prison and other Egyptian prisons that have turned into graveyards for their inmates.
