Ikshef & 5 Rights Organizations: We Demand Fair and Transparent Trial to “Rabaa” Journalists (Statement)

London (Ikshef) – The organizations signing this statement, denounce the continuation of violations against of rights fair and transparent trial of journalists charged case known as “Rabaa operations room”, which includes 16 journalists, by depriving them of a public trial, and to prevent their families and their lawyers to attend, by court orders, as well as the repeated ban for journalists from coverage, which would prejudice the fairness and overtly of the trial.

The signatories of the statement, who condemn such abuses, declare their solidarity with the prisoners, and with the right to release them, after the end of the rationale and extended remand. Also, the signatories declare their rejection of heinous violations suffered by the jailed journalists.

The undersigned organizations call on all supporters of freedom in Egypt and abroad, to write in solidarity with the imprisoned journalists in that case, the day before the trial on Sunday, September 25, 2016, under the hashtag #FreeRabaaJaournalists to shed light on their plight to public opinion, and to press the concerned authorities to release them in light of the end of their detention on remand.
