Egypt Detain and Deport TV Anchor and Former BBC Journalist Liliane Daoud

political talk show host Liliane Daoud in Egypt was arrested and deported from Egypt late Monday night.

The British- Lebanese former BBC journalist who hosted a political talk show on Egyptian ONTV was put on an EgyptAir flight to Beirut.

“She had been expelled,” said an official at Cairo airport.

“Eight men who said they were from the border police force took her to an unknown location after taking her telephone and her British passport,” AFP quoted Daoud’s ex-husband Khaled al-Berri.

They did not let her contact anyone.

The expulsion is the latest of a series of brutal crackdown on press and journalists who are not siding the current ruling regime in Egypt.

Recently, Cairo Criminal Court issued death sentences against four journalists and two citizens, in addition to the provisions of aggravated imprisonment against others on top of them is the former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on charges of spying with Qatar.
