Egypt Renew Jailing of 9 Journalists and Reporters Including Ikshef’s Abu-Zeid

Supreme State Security prosecution decided to renew for 15 days the pretrial detention of 2 journalists: Ahmed Abdul-Aziz of Al-Mawqef Al-Arabi and Ahmed Abu-Zeid the human rights researcher in Ikshef and former managing editor of Al-Diyar newspaper, beside 6 reporters: Ahmed Mohammed Mostafa Baiyomi, Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Mostafa Al-Garf, Mahmoud Mabrouk Abdul-Razeq Dawod, Ahmed Magdi Abdul-Wahhab, Ahmed Khaled and nesreen Antar. This is beside photojournalist Mohammed Al-Husseini. The decision is related to their journalistic work.

Ikshef’s lawyer who attended with the colleagues asked to release them and release Abdul-Aziz for medical reasons as his health is deteriorating. However, the prosecutor refused and issued its decision in an ongoing aggression against press and media.
