(Ikshef) – A photojournalist was exculpated by an Egyptian court, after he was detained during covering anti-government protests.

Ali Abdee -aka Ali Beka- of Al-Fajr newspaper spoke about the details of his arrest, stressing to the court Sunday that he is a photojournalist and was covering the protests as an assignment by the newspaper.

He added that security forces have arrested him randomly downtown, as a part of a campaign of random arrests that day.

The prosecution accused the photographer of inciting demonstrations against the state, publishing false news and misinformation about the political leadership’s illegal handing of Egyptian territory to Saudi Arabia, and the blocking a public road, in lawsuit No. 6408 for the year 2016.
