Egyptian Sout Al-Omah Editor Fined, Journalist Jailed for Defaming Businesswoman

(Ikshef) – Editor-in-chief of Egyptian Sout Al-Omah newspaper was fined, and a journalist in same news outlet ordered to be Jailed to a year for defaming a businesswoman.

Dokki district court ordered Abdel-Halim Qandeel to pay 10 thousand EL (about a thousand dolars) for negligence, and sentenced journalists Mohammed Saad Khattab to one year in prison, and to pay 30 thousand LE (about $3000), beside paying a thousand Egyptian pounds (about $100) as a fine.
