ADJF honors Ikshef for its role in supporting freedom of the press

London – June 23, 2016

(Ikshef) – Arab Media Freedoms Monitor stresses that the release of the 90 journalists detained in prisons of Egypt’s Sisi is the first demand of all organizations concerned with human rights and press freedom in the world.

Ikshef praises the struggle of the families of the journalists, a struggle that have been successful in the weeks-long sit-in in the headquarters of the Egyptian Journalists’ Syndicate that drew the world’s attention to the fairness of the journalists’ cause and the struggle for truth.

Ikshef researcher in Egypt Ahmed Abu Zeid thanked all defenders of press freedom in Egypt, and the legal support teams that spare no effort to free journalists and release them at any guarantees. He called on the Freedoms Committee EJS to do more effort to improve the conditions of detained journalists who die slowly in prisons.

It is worth mentioning that in an iftar last Monday, Association of Detained Journalists’ Families has honored Ikshef among a group of honorees for their role in supporting press freedom, working on the release of journalists and revealing violations they are exposed to.
