Arab Media Frredom Monitor “Ikshef” held a conference in Istanbul, Turkey on Press Freedom day in support of jailed journalists in Egypt.
During the conference Tuesday, Ikshef presented reports highlighting the deteriorating status of journalism and journalists, and restrictions facing media freedom in Egypt since July 3, 2013 till now. This is contrary of the unprecedented freedoms witnessed following January 25, 2011 revolution.
Ikshef documented in a statement the increasing violations, the last of which is besieging the Egyptian Journalists’ Syndicate then storming it, beside detaining 47 journalists in a single day, and continuing closure of 25 different media outlets.
