Ikshef Holds Conference on “Future of Media Freedoms in Egypt”

London, May 3, 2016 – Arab Media Freedom Monitor “Ikshef” held a conference Tuesday addressing “Future of Media Freedoms in Egypt”.

The conference highlighted the current conditions under which journalists in Egypt are working and ways in which these conditions can be improved. It also aims to share ideas on how best to provide protection and the safest possible environment for journalists during times of unrest.

During  event Ikshef released its “Report of the First Quarter of 2016” highlighting the status of media freedoms in Egypt. Also there was available “Annual report: Slow Death, Journalists in Egypt in 2015”.

The event coincided with World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2016 at Frontline Club on central London.

Among the speakers are Mr. Peter Oborne, associate editor of the Spectator and former chief political commentator of the Daily Telegraph; Mr. John Rees, broadcaster and writer who is a national officer of the Stop the War Coalition, a spokesman for the People’s Assembly Against Austerity; Dr. Daud Abdullah, Director Middle East Monitor, a news website; and Kotb Al-Araby,        Egyptian Journalist – Director of Ikshef and former general secretary of the Supreme Press council in Egypt.
