Arab Media Freedom Monitor “Ikshef” condemns the detention and disappearance of journalist Badr Mohammed Badr and the storming of his office. Ikshef holds the Egyptian authorities responsible for Badr’s safety and demands that they quickly disclose his place of detention and release him immediately.
Ikshef calls on the Egyptian authorities to release all imprisoned journalists as their numbers are increasing , which confirms the systematic targeting by the regime of freedom of the press, culminating in the arrest of the former head of Egyptian Journalists’ Syndicate and two members of the syndicate’s board and sentencing them to one year suspended due to their defense of their syndicate which the police stormed it in early May last year.
